After that the development of tanks started rapidly during the First World War and in 1914 many countries started making tanks. For this Britain, France and Belgium started a lot of efforts. By the time World War I ended in 1918, many countries had built many tanks. At that time France had made about 3870 and Britain had made 2636 tanks. Then there was a competition to make tanks and many types of tanks started being made.

Tanks were greatly improved by World War II, allowing them to reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. Between 1939 and 1944, millions of tanks were built in Germany, Britain, the United States, Russia, and Japan. These tanks were used openly in the Second World War.

With the progress of science, tanks were being manufactured in new forms. In 1950, Russia made such a tank which was 56 tonnes. It was fitted with a 122 mm diameter cannon and the thickness of the machine was 10 inches. A 600 horse power engine was installed to drive it.
